Empowerment Leadership Model for Small Groups, Teams, & Families
Course Two, Lesson 15
Identifying and Utilizing Available Resources
Note: Whenever "group" or "team" is used, it can mean "group", "team", or "family".
The successful group will identify and utilize available resources that can help the group accomplish its purpose. This is simple to understand. Such a group will be recommending pediatricians, house builders, and books at the library. They will be sending people to counselors, beauticians, auctions and flea markets, other people they know for advice, and anywhere else that might help in the issues of daily life that go beyond the group’s capabilities.
As the group leader, just ask yourself if the group could benefit in a MAJOR way from some outside resource that is available. Often you will have a better grasp of what resources are available and can suggest them from time to time, but only after asking the group itself to identify helpful resources when they need them.
Next, let's explore the group's responsibility to minimize the negative impact of outside systems.
